Post-Critical Concern and Healthcare debates...

People cannot contribute to the nation if they are never taught to read or write,if their bodies are stunted with hunger, if their sickness goes untended, if their life is spent in hopeless poverty just drawing a welfare check. So we want to open the gates to opportunity. But we're also going to give all our people, black and white, they help they need to walk through those gates.

-LBJ, in a speech to Congress called "We Shall Overcome" following the racial violence that broke out in Selma, AL in 1965.

sigh. a breath of fresh air.

  1. I'm sorry I missed you. Days are slipping by and El Paso is getting nearer. Perhaps you could text me your address? I'd love to send you some love. Or hell, to skype a day, once I get settled. It's funny the way we wander, isn't it? Unto paths of our own, and yet, share the same past--lingering sweetly, not so far behind us? I am so proud of the woman you are and the mind you have, even if I have not picked it lately...
And I'm so proud to say you are a friend, to have you in my life. Be well, Stephanie. Continue to practice compassion. And know I will always be here/there.
